Bay Robotics is a FIRST robotics team founded in 2022 by a group of students at the Bay School of San Francisco. Our mission is to build a culture of courageous learning as well as foster a future generation of innovators and problem solvers. Each year, we achieve our mission by competing in the FIRST Robotics Competition. We've won awards such as, in 2022, the Rookie All-Star Award in the San Francisco Regional and the Championship Division Highest Rookie Seed Award. In 2023, we also placed 17th out of the 60 teams at Silicon Valley regionals, the most competitive regional event.
FIRST stands for: For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology and is a nonprofit STEM-focused organization founded in 1989 by Dean Kamen and Woodie Flowers. The official FIRST website describes the FIRST Robotics Competition best:
"Under strict rules and limited time and resources, teams of high school students are challenged to build industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game in alliance with other teams, while also fundraising to meet their goals, designing a team “brand,” and advancing respect and appreciation for STEM within the local community."
